Serving the Community

The Work of Building Bridges

Transformation happens when individuals are given access to the language, tools, and relationships that empower them to flourish. In a time of extraordinary disconnection, the need to facilitate a meaningful quality of life is urgent. I remain committed to nurturing spaces where human potential is realized as new initiatives take shape.

Empowering Small Businesses Through Partnerships

Small businesses are more than engines of economic growth. They are vital pillars of thriving communities, often embodying the spirit where belonging can take root. Yet too many businesses face overwhelming odds. Navigating broken systems, competing against corporate giants, and building sustainable practices from the ground up — often with limited resources — demands a resilience that is rarely recognized.

Building lasting customer relationships takes time, trust, and a deep understanding of a community’s evolving needs, all while adapting to a world of constant economic, technological, and social change. Many small businesses struggle to find the right spaces for genuine connection — places where both people and ideas flourish. These challenges are even steeper for those marginalized or excluded by traditional structures. For them, creating a business isn’t just about opportunity; it’s about reclaiming dignity, redefining success, and reshaping environments where they (and others like them) can belong. When individuals are given the freedom to build meaningful work, they not only transform their own quality of life, but also spark growth that ripples outward.

I’m honored to support these communities, helping individuals do more with less, prioritize mental and physical health, and pursue dreams that once seemed out of reach. Below are a few examples of how I’ve actively engaged in this space, supporting initiatives that accelerate learning, strengthen community ties, and offer a profound platform for good.

For over 13 years, I’ve volunteered and worked alongside small businesses and nonprofits, dedicating time to learning from entrepreneurs and subject matter experts who are leaders in their fields. These experiences have shaped my understanding of the unique challenges small business owners face and fueled a long-standing commitment to supporting mission-driven enterprises. After earning a double Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Political Science—and gaining agency-side experience in marketing for nonprofit communities—I began working independently with business owners across the United States and abroad, deepening my education in search and digital marketing.

Over the past even years, I have collaborated with small business owners from every walk of life, supporting entrepreneurs with varying levels of infrastructure, experience, and resources. My work has ranged from sales and brand messaging to omni-channel marketing. These experiences have only strengthened her belief in business as a vehicle for positive change. I’ve particularly time with creative professionals and cause-based projects, where reciprocal partnerships often lead to lasting impact.

In June 2024, I began a trade collaboration in the holistic wellness space, exchanging strategic marketing implementation for services that offered hands-on insight into the business and its audience. This partnership model exemplifies how trade can be a powerful tool for strengthening small businesses—reducing financial pressure, building community, and creating space for sustainable growth. More broadly, it reflects a core philosophy: that servant leadership and creative problem-solving can expand access to the resources entrepreneurs need to thrive.

In 2020, I contributed to a nationwide initiative designed to help over 200,000 job seekers secure meaningful employment. Acting as a Career Communications Consultant, I brought a marketing-forward approach to resume writing and career positioning—applying principles of storytelling, branding, and customer acquisition to the job search process. This work empowered individuals to clarify their goals, refine their personal brand, and communicate their unique value with confidence. By delivering resumes and cover letters optimized for both applicant tracking systems and human reviewers, I helped clients stand out in competitive markets. This project reinforced my belief that access to strategic communication tools—whether in business or in job seeking—can open doors to transformative opportunities. Beyond supporting candidates, this work also served small businesses and mission-driven organizations by helping them attract more aligned, well-prepared talent—fostering stronger, more sustainable teams.

In early 2025, I participated in a hands-on SEO apprenticeship with Altus Entertainment, a high-performing B2B agency specializing in corporate events. Under the direct mentorship of the company’s head of marketing, I helped optimize on-page SEO across over 600 talent profiles—saving the company more than 120 labor hours. These contributions supported long-term improvements in website performance, lead generation, and search visibility. While I gained invaluable knowledge through this guided experience, the structure of the apprenticeship also served as a mutual benefit: helping a growing team delegate with confidence while passing on expert insight. This experience reflects a powerful model for expanding small business capacity—where sharing mentorship and strategy creates a ripple effect of increased access, readiness, and value for the entrepreneurs and clients still supported today.

Strong communities depend on organizations that are able to clearly communicate their value, build meaningful relationships, and sustainably serve the people who rely on them. For many small businesses and community-focused organizations, effective communication is not simply a business function—it is a tool for connection, trust-building, and long-term impact.

Since 2018, I have worked as an independent Marketing Communications Consultant, partnering with entrepreneurs, small businesses, and mission-driven organizations to strengthen their ability to engage the communities they serve. Through strategic communication, digital marketing, and brand development, I have helped organizations clarify their messaging, strengthen audience relationships, and create more accessible pathways for people to connect with their services.

My work has included developing educational content, improving website accessibility and user experience, creating relationship-centered email and social media campaigns, and using data-informed insights to guide decision-making. While the tools varied from project to project, the underlying goal remained consistent: helping organizations better understand and respond to the needs of the people they serve.

This experience reinforced the importance of empathy, active listening, and thoughtful communication in fostering trust and engagement. It also provided opportunities to work closely with individuals from diverse backgrounds, understand their goals and challenges, and support them in creating solutions that aligned with their values. These experiences continue to shape my approach to leadership, service, and community engagement today.

Strengthening Families Through Local Service Projects

Strong families are the heart of strong communities. They shape our first experiences of belonging, safety, and possibility — and often determine how we move through the world. When families thrive, the benefits extend far beyond the household, creating ripple effects that touch schools, neighborhoods, and future generations.

But nurturing a healthy family is no small task. Parents, especially mothers and primary caregivers, are often expected to carry the emotional, logistical, and financial weight of the family unit — all while navigating complex systems, societal pressure, and unmet needs. For many, raising a family means breaking generational cycles, responding to daily crises, and still making time for something as simple as a shared meal or meaningful conversation.

Supporting families means supporting the women who build them, the caregivers who guide them, and the children who will one day shape our collective future. It’s about honoring both the immediate needs and the long-term transformation that family life requires — addressing today’s pressures while investing in tomorrow’s promise.

For me, this work is deeply personal. I believe that our support systems are both our foundation and our ceiling — they define how far we can go and how well we’re held along the way. By nurturing families, we nurture the environments where identity, resilience, and purpose are formed.

Below are a few ways I support family-centered causes — from creating space for healing and learning to championing the well-being of caregivers and children alike.

Pregnancy is a deeply transformative time, often marked by both joy and uncertainty. For many women, especially those facing financial hardship or lack of support, it can be even more overwhelming to navigate this season alone. Access to compassionate, judgment-free resources can make all the difference — not only for the health of the mother and child, but for the long-term strength of the family.

From 2007 to 2009, I served as a Donations Coordinator and Administrative Assistant at a Pregnancy Resource Center, a nonprofit committed to empowering women with holistic care and practical support. There, my role helped create a welcoming, organized environment for new and expecting mothers in the community.

In this role, I helped sort and distribute essential baby supplies — ensuring families had access to clothing, diapers, and other critical items. I also contributed to the development and distribution of educational materials, helping women better understand their options and feel informed throughout pregnancy and early parenthood. Beyond logistics, these contributions aimed to support the center’s deeper mission: to offer dignity, encouragement, and connection to those navigating one of life’s most pivotal transitions. This early work laid a foundation for an ongoing commitment to supporting families — particularly the women whose strength and nurturing shape the future of their communities.

In 2008, I led a community initiative designed to deepen communication between mothers and their teenage daughters. What began as a traditional “Mother-Daughter Tea” was thoughtfully reimagined into a one-day interactive workshop, centered on emotional connection, mutual understanding, and shared growth. As Co-Host and Program Coordinator, I helped develop a sequence of activities that combined reflection, play, and open dialogue. I facilitated transitions, guided exercises, and worked behind the scenes to create an environment that felt safe, engaging, and personal. From coordinating volunteers to curating a custom event playlist, every detail was designed to foster presence and participation.

The workshop was met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from local families, many of whom credited the experience with creating a renewed sense of closeness and clarity in their relationships. For me, the event underscored the transformative power of safe, well-facilitated spaces—especially in a cultural moment where intergenerational dialogue is both urgent and often overlooked.

Fighting hunger requires more than distributing food—it demands listening, learning, and responding with humility and adaptability. I volunteered with a local ministry to support a community pantry project aimed at serving families facing food insecurity. I organized and labeled supplies, assisted volunteers, and worked alongside ministry leaders to understand the systemic challenges impacting local households. This experience reinforced my conviction that strengthening families begins with meeting basic needs—and that true community care often means stepping into unfamiliar spaces with a willingness to serve wherever needed.

In that same spirit of service, I turned my attention to a Denver‑based soup kitchen, where I prepped and distributed meals, kept supplies organized, and helped maintain a clean, welcoming environment. Beyond the logistics of meal service, I felt encouraged to prioritize human connection—sharing meals and stories with guests, offering genuine presence, and reinforcing each person’s dignity. I’m grateful these efforts created a space where individuals felt seen, nourished, and valued, reminding the wider community that there is always room at the table for everyone.

Beyond physical nourishment lies a deeper hunger for connection. During the holidays in Lakewood, I was invited to join a small group of university students to bring Christmas carols and companionship to nursing home residents. Through song and shared moments, the group offered more than seasonal cheer—they offered presence. For many, especially women who have long served as family matriarchs, this visit was a profound reminder that they remain seen, remembered, and integral to community life. Participation underscored my belief that honoring those who came before us—and ensuring no one is overlooked—is a vital part of collective care and belonging.

Fostering Community Engagement Through Higher Education

Education exposes individuals to the art of pursuing excellence, expands perspectives, and empowers them to build communities around their passions. Academic environments provide a structured arena for honing competitive skills, while also serving as platforms for advocacy—amplifying underrepresented voices and drawing attention to causes that lack resources or recognition. By mastering disciplines and engaging with diverse peers, learners develop the courage, networks, and insight needed to lead in their fields and uplift their communities. I was fortunate to be part of this vision to life through volunteer work supporting women’s athletics, organizing campus events, and personally championing academic honors. Below are ways I engage in this space.

Women’s sports have long been underfunded and undervalued, limiting opportunities for female athletes to excel and lead. Investing in women’s athletics is essential to fostering confidence, teamwork, and community pride.  In 2014, I served as Volunteer Women’s Soccer Manager at a Lakewood College—overseeing practice drills, coordinating equipment setup and breakdown, managing game‑day logistics, and capturing match footage for performance review.  I also prepared motivational messages and maintained essential team gear, ensuring athletes could focus entirely on their development. By bringing professional‑grade support to the women’s program, I helped support their effort to raise the profile and credibility of female athletes on campus. This work demonstrated that behind‑the‑scenes service is a powerful form of leadership—one that empowers underrepresented groups, strengthens community bonds, and paves the way for future generations to lead with confidence and excellence.

In October 2013, I participated as Community Event Staff for the on-campus Harvest Carnival—supporting every phase from promotional design to on-site management. I created eye‑catching flyers to attract local families, oversaw safety and flow in activity zones (even donning costume attire to welcome children), and ensured logistical precision throughout the day. These efforts helped transform a campus fair into a vibrant, accessible celebration that strengthened community bonds and provided lasting memories for attendees. This experience reinforced her belief that thoughtfully executed events can serve as powerful catalysts for belonging and sustained neighborhood engagement.

Academic achievement is more than a personal milestone—it signals a commitment to inquiry, leadership, and the pursuit of knowledge that fuels community progress. In recognition of this ideal, I was fortunate to be inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, the national Communication Studies Honor Society in 2016 for scholarship, leadership, and service. This nomination reflects work spanning qualitative and quantitative research on humor in advertising, public presentations on the impact of classroom distractions, and scholarly analysis of Baroque art’s role in shaping visual rhetoric.  Complementing these academic endeavors was real‑world experience—shadowing leading PR agencies, collaborating with Root Sports on Broncos and Rockies media initiatives, and supporting a Dress for Success fashion runway show to empower young professional women. Membership in Lambda Pi Eta demonstrates that rigorous scholarship and experiential learning go hand in hand—creating the skills, networks, and vision needed to advance education, cultivate excellence, and build communities where every individual can thrive.

Alongside earning repeated Dean’s List recognition, I delivered a presentation on Aristotelian Virtue Ethics that bridged classical philosophy with modern ethical challenges; analyzed presidential debates in advanced seminars; and attended panel discussions featuring Chief Justice Antonin Scalia, Dr. Ben Carson, Former Vice President Dick Cheney, and other notable political and public leaders. These experiences deepened an understanding of civic discourse and strengthened a commitment to nurturing leadership and learning in communities everywhere. *Images courtesy of Colorado Christian University

Expanding Access to Care Through Travel & International Service

Bridging cultures is essential to building resilient communities that honor diversity and foster shared growth. Cultural exchange and global engagement create pathways to mutual understanding, challenge biases, and expand the boundaries of belonging. I believe that engaging directly with diverse traditions and populations—both locally and globally—can help weave a more inclusive social fabric.

Through hands-on service that honors each community’s strengths and stories, I strive to create spaces where every person feels seen, respected, and connected. Each experience deepens my conviction that true belonging is rooted in curiosity, humility, and the willingness to learn from one another. By integrating diverse perspectives into my work, I seek to help build a shared tapestry of mutual respect and opportunity.

Below are a few ways I’m grateful to engage in this space—honoring Indigenous heritage, fostering global understanding, and sponsoring hope across continents.

In November 2016, I served as Donations Coordinator for the Northern Arapaho Tribe during Thanksgiving week, supporting educational and wellness efforts at a tribal school. I facilitated health screenings, administered safety questionnaires, and provided one‑on‑one tutoring across multiple grade levels. By organizing and distributing donated supplies—and by preparing and serving a communal Thanksgiving meal—I contributed to a culturally respectful environment that reinforced tribal traditions of gratitude and mutual care. This experience taught that hands‑on exchange is fundamental to community healing and collective resilience.

In July 2016, I joined an international volunteer team at the Riasc Centre in Swords, Ireland, following intensive cultural‑sensitivity and team‑leadership training. As Crafts Team Leader, I designed age‑appropriate activities and led hands‑on projects for children—fostering creativity, collaboration, and cross‑cultural dialogue. Logistical oversight and facilitation helped increase attendance and visibility for the Centre’s outreach programs. This experience affirmed service grounded in empathy and respect. See a lookbook of the trip below *Note, no children or family events are shown to protect minors according to Dublin law.

For several years, I sponsored a nine‑year‑old boy, Clovis, through Compassion International—investing in his education and well‑being. Through regular correspondence, financial support, and personal encouragement, I witnessed the transformative impact that sustained, individual commitment can have on a child’s life. This long‑term partnership exemplifies how community extends beyond borders: demonstrating that by sharing resources and care, we can bridge continents, empower emerging leaders, and cultivate a world where every child has the chance to thrive.
